I love on-topic comments and trackbacks. I don't mind disagreement - a healthy discussion and exchange of ideas is always welcome. The rules are simple:
-
Please stay on-topic. Although you may have made an excellent point or presented an interesting thought it doesn't help the discussion if it doesn't relate to the topic at hand.
-
Be civil. It's okay to disagree as long as you're not disagreeable. Personal attacks, abusive or hateful comments, inappropriate language and ad hominem attacks are not helpful to the discussion and are unwelcome. Be civil or be gone.
-
No spam. I delete spam. I don't mind references to your site or other links as long as they are relevant to the topic. Thinly veiled spam is still spam and will be removed.
-
Spamming or leaving less than civil comments may result in the IP address being permanently blocked.
-
Get to the point. Excessively long or rambling comments are distracting. By all means say what you need to say but if it is overly long (I'm pretty generous in this area) consider making your a post on your own blog as a response to mine and submit a trackback
You are encouraged (but not required) to post under your real name, not an anonymous persona. Being willing to put your real name to your comments adds to the credibility of those comments and trackbacks.
I reserve the right to moderate comments or trackbacks before or after publication and may change the approval requirement at any time. Likewise, the limited use of HTML in comments, allowing URLs to be shown as links, and the use of CAPTCHA as an anti-spam tool may be adjusted at any time without notice as I see fit to keep the commentary workable and useful to all.
I may update or change this policy on comments and trackbacks at any time without notice and I do reserve the right to remove any comments or trackbacks at my discretion.
